New Zealand Property Group

New Zealand Property Group (NZPG) seeks submissions from developers and others who interact closely with the Resource Management Act.

At a debate in September 2011 hosted by the NZPG discussions centred on excessive regulation and compliance by councils. The suggestion was that it could be remedied by legislation from central government. The politicians on the panel argued that much of the application of the RMA was at the local level and it was inappropriate for central government to be involved. David Parker, Labour's representative, laid down a challenge - "if it can be fixed by central government, show us how to do it." NZPG has taken up the challenge and will hold another debate with council and government early in 2012 to address, amongst other things, reducing the red tape currently wrapped around resource consent applications. NZPG seeks suggestions on how this can be achieved and what the main issues with the RMA are.

April 2011

After over 5 decades of practising law as a partnership we have incorporated. From 1 April 2011 we are Knight Coldicutt Limited. Why? Because it makes a lot more sense from a business perspective, and because the Law Society now permits law firms to operate as limited liability companies.
